Help with Dotpilot for iPhone and Apple Watch

Write to me at app.entwicklung@mailbox.org. I read every message myself and reply as soon as I can.

Check off, fill in, skip

One tap on the circle checks off a habit for today. A long press opens the menu with fill in, note, skip, share and edit.

Forgot yesterday? Then a row with “Log it” and “Skip” appears at the top of Today. Older days are filled in from the week view or the date bar, up to 30 days back. Two skips per week are possible.

Buying and restoring Dotpilot Pro

You buy Pro in Settings. On a new iPhone, tap “Restore purchases” there. Pro applies to all devices with your Apple ID.

iCloud sync

With Pro, turn it on under Settings → Backup and export → “Sync with iCloud”. All devices need to be signed in with the same Apple ID. The first sync can take a few minutes.

Apple Watch

The watch app is part of Pro and needs watchOS 26. If it doesn’t appear by itself, open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Dotpilot under “Available Apps”. Then open Dotpilot once on your iPhone, and Today will be on your watch too.

Backup, export and moving

Under Settings → Backup and export you create a backup file and restore it. As a table (CSV) you export all entries for Numbers or Excel.

To move from another app, use “Import table”. It expects columns for habit, date and value, or one column per habit. Dotpilot shows what it found first and leaves what’s already there as it is.

Reminders don’t arrive

Check in iOS Settings under Notifications → Dotpilot that notifications are allowed. Once a habit runs on its own, Dotpilot reminds you less often on purpose. You can turn that off under Settings → Reminders → “Get quieter”.

Deleting data

You delete single habits in the archive. You remove everything by deleting the app. With iCloud sync, also delete Dotpilot’s iCloud data in your iPhone’s iCloud settings.
